Data Deletion

This page explains how to request deletion of your personal data from whimsy.cards, including any data we collected when you signed in with Facebook.

What data do we store?

Depending on the features you use, we store account and profile data, digital invitations and uploaded files, transaction and payment confirmation records, preferences, RSVP responses, and technical, security and email logs. We do not store full card numbers. If you use Facebook or Google Login, we receive the identifier and profile data you authorise.

How to delete your data

You can delete your account and associated data from active systems directly in account settings:

  1. Sign in to whimsy.cards.
  2. Go to Account Settings (click your name / avatar in the top navigation).
  3. Scroll to the "Delete account" section and confirm deletion.

Request deletion by email

If you cannot sign in, are a guest who submitted an RSVP, or prefer an email request, contact the address below. For an RSVP, include the invitation link and enough information to identify the response. contact@etherealstories.com. We will process your request within 30 days.

What happens after deletion?

After account deletion, the account, profile, stories, files and associated RSVP data are removed from active systems, and story links stop working. A story deleted separately can be recovered from trash for up to 48 hours, then is permanently removed. Email requests are normally handled within 30 days after identity verification.

Exceptions: we may retain accounting records for the applicable legal term (generally 5 years calculated from 1 July of the following year), dispute-related data for the applicable limitation period, security logs for up to 12 months, and completed email records for up to 30 days. Backups disappear through technical rotation. Providers such as Stripe may retain some data as independent controllers under their own duties. Deleting whimsy.cards does not delete your Facebook or Google account.
